How Do I View Courses? Click the 'courses' link on the top left menu. When current courses are available for registration, you will see one of the following categories: 'Professional Devlopment', which are in-person workshops that generally take place in METRO's training center, or 'Online Webinars', which are classes that take place via the web with phone conferencing and 'Special Events'. Click one of these links to see the current course offerings in that category.
How Do I Register? To register, you must first sign in (see 'How do I create a profile' if you do not have one). To register by invoice or check, please scroll down. To register via credit card in this system, you must first create a profile (see below). Then, following the instructions for 'How Do I View Courses?' you will locate the course you want and click the check box under it's title. Then click 'Add to shopping cart.' This will show you a subtotal, with any applicable discounts. You may then choose to return and add more courses, or you can choose to checkout. After reading and agreeing with METRO's refund policy, you will proceed to pay by entering your credit card information. This system is Verisign/PayPal secured. If you work for a METRO member institution or are a myMETRO member all applicable discounts will be applied as you check out.
How Do I Create a Profile? In order to register via this system, you must create a student profile. To do so, you must first enter a log-in name (please keep it simple enough to remember, such as your first initial, last name, number - jsmith100). Then you must create a password and re-enter it for clarifiction. It is strongly recommended that you also enter a password 'hint' which will be sent to you in case you forget your password. From there, you will enter your name and contact information. If you will be entering your institution's address for the mailing adress, please enter the institution's name on address line 1, and the institution's street address on address line 2. Finally, if you are not sure if your empolyer is a member please check the METRO Member Directory.
What if I forgot my Username and Password? If you forgot you username or password you can call 212-228-2320 x10 during regular 9am to 5pm business hours or write to training@metro.org. We will then either reset your password or send a profile notice to your email.
Invoices for Members METRO members may elect to be invoiced instead of paying by credit card. If you work for a METRO member library or you are a myMETRO member download this registration form. Complete all required information and fax to 212-228-2598 OR send as an attachment to training@metro.org. If you are not sure if your institution is a member please check the METRO Member Directory.
Registration by check If you wish to pay by check you may fill in this registration form and submit via postal mail with the check included. Make check payable to Metropolitan New York Library Council. Non-member registrations will not be processed until payment is received.
Where Do Classes Meet? Unless otherwise noted, all classes meet at METRO's Training Center, at 57 E. 11th Street, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10003.
POLICIES
Discounts If you register for a program over $60 at least two weeks in advance you may be eligible for a $20 discount on registration fees. This discount does not apply to programs under $60, co-sponsored workshops or series discounts. Please note that registration within two weeks of the class is not always available, and admission is at METRO’s discretion. If applicable, the 2-week advance discount will be combined with other discounts upon checkout (ie, LIS student rate, METRO member rate) and will appear automatically prior to payment check-out through this system.
Cancellations To cancel registration and be eligible for a refund, participants must notify METRO in writing (including via e-mail to training@metro.org) at least two (2) full business days prior to a scheduled workshop. Refunds are provided by credit voucher, check or credit card, and will be processed within about four weeks. A handling charge of 10% of the workshop's price will be assessed for all refunds.
If you are unable to attend a workshop, you may choose to send another person in your place without penalty. In this case, METRO requests that you notify us in advance, so that we may contact your substitute to make appropriate accommodations.
Program Changes METRO reserves the right to cancel any workshop or to substitute instructors. In the event of a cancellation or substitution, registrants may choose a refund or a credit toward another METRO workshop.
